The doctorate provides high level competence suitable for carrying out research activities or for work in private or public corporations that require highly qualified scientific professionals. Obtaining a research doctorate is the natural path for those who want to pursue a university career (researcher, professor) but it also opens doors to high level employment in research institutes and corporations.
Doctorate degree courses can be carried out in association with other Universities in Italy or abroad. One University is chosen as the administrative seat. The doctorate course requires developing an autonomous research project under the guidance of a supervisor.
Research project results should then be published in an international scientific journal or presented in a national or international congress. A period of study and research abroad is required.
The University of Milano Bicocca offers 8 Doctoral Schools and organises 29 Research Doctorate Courses.
