Unimib-Guest Wifi Network (English)
The unimib-guest wifi network provides network connectivity and internet for the following protocols:
It has been conceived to offer wifi access to guests, such as participants in university department meetings.
Access to unimib-guest uses the 'captive portal' technology through username/password credentials over secure https protocol, and provides access to the unencrypted radio channel.
On the available wifi networks list, select unimib-guest, confirm the request for connection (to unsecure network), and point your web browser to any URL. You will be automatically redirected to the authentication portal, and then you will be able to enter your credentials and gain access to the network.
- network wireless card with 802.11a , 802.11b or 802.11g support
- web browser with SSL support.
Note: The unimib-guest network operates in parallel with the wifi unimib network, which is used by the university human resources and by the enrolled students. The wifi unimib network offers a much higher level of security, achieved with the adoption of user certificates and WPA2 encryption.
The trade-off is that the unimib network has more stringent system requirements (please refer to the configuration section applicable to a specific operating systems), and is therefore less appropriate for occasional users.
