M Sc in Marine Sciences
The University of Milano-Bicocca and the Maldives National University will jointly activate the international Master’s course in Marine Sciences, a two-year program offering students a joint degree from the two partner institutions. Lessons are taught in English by international faculty and world-class scientists and researchers. After completion of the first common teachings, students can choose among three different tracks: Environment, BioEcology, Human Geography.
Practical activities will be run in the Maldives at the MaRHE Center, a center for research and high education fully equipped to house students and researchers, offering top-level scientific labs. Researchers around the world will join to explain ground breaking research techniques in the Marine Sciences sector.
Faculty will give face to face or online lectures; regardless of whether students attend class on-campus or remotely, a technology platform will allow them to follow and download lessons, read Syllabi, put questions to faculty and researchers, take part in didactic chat rooms. Each student will have access to library services, including lending of books, access to databases for scientific consultation and articles downloading, and much more.
Pre-registrations are now open in Italy and in the Maldives; admission is subject to an interview to assess the candidate’s background and English language proficiency certifications. www.marinesciences.unimib.it
The course provides postgraduates the skills to conceive their own solutions and develop strategies to solve marine and coastal areas problematic issues, with particular regard to:
- Study and analysis of natural processes and related risks, with reference to the marine ecosystem (chemical, biological, ecological, and earth sciences fields);
- Study and analysis of human interaction in the marine system (socio-economic and legal fields), for a policy of sustainable management and protection from anthropogenic risks in oceanic and coastal environment.
