Research @ Bicocca: themes and structures
The University of Milano-Bicocca is active in a wide array of research topics, thanks in part to its numerous departments, research centres and centres of excellence. These structures cooperate together, with different consortia, and with public and private third parties from outside the University.
Funding and projects
Aside from promoting research with its own funds, the University coordinates and participates in publicly and privately funded research projects at the regional, national and international levels.
UNIMIB supports and promotes professors, researchers, collaborators and students who start new businesses by creating academic Spin Offs.
Bicocca’s research area arranges models of statutes, provides for regulation of the relationships between the University and the Spin Off and promotes contact with industries.
For a list of spin-offs already started and to learn more about new opportunities, visit the Spin Off page.
Intellectual property protection
UNIMIB protects the results of scientific university research through registered patents and design patents, among other types.
The University supports researchers by evaluating and indicating the best strategy to protect inventions, by verifying the concrete possibilities of commercial or industrial applications, and by supporting the inventor in presentations of transfer proposals (of inventions or other industrial property) to the University.
