International Community

The number of foreigners in Italy has considerably increased within the last decade: official statistics give the figure of about 3 million, more than double what it was in 2001.  Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT).

Such a rapid population increase creates problems in Italy as in any part of the world. There are however many positive aspects to immigration and the most visible is the presence of different cultures, especially in big cities.

Italy has enormous interest in music, arts, theatre, cinema, and lifestyles of other countries.International Community

Students who choose Milan to further their education have many opportunities to keep in contact with their home countries through personal contacts, international community and global artistic performances that our cosmopolitan city has to offer. After a short time nostalgia becomes only a distant memory.

One very important thing students can do is become cultural ambassadors between their countries and Italy.

Is this an over-ambitious project? It’s often easier than it may sound: an ethnic dinner with background music downloaded from the web; passing the word among friends about a trendy film or song; helping friends to organise a trip…Exchange students are in Italy to study but there are many things Italians can learn from them.
