In the 21 January edition of "D" (a weekly insert of la Repubblica) there is a detailed report on the Maldives experience of the students taking part in the Bicocca international Master "Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development".
Paolo Galli and Marialuisa Lavitrano, researchers at the University of Milano-Bicocca, as well as members of the local population are interviewed at length.
It is clear from the article that the Bicocca outpost at Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll, can be considered a bright light in the panorama of Italian scientific research .
Our researchers have fitted in well with the local population and have become a reference point for the island comunity, split between the desire for easy economic growth from tourism and the need to protect their priceless ecological heritage.
