Biografia
Elisabetta Ruspini is Full Professor of Sociology at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milan, Italy). She holds a PhD in Sociology and Social Research from the University of Trento.
She has extensive expertise in feminist, women’s and gender studies, generational research, as well as gender-sensitive and longitudinal research. She has acted as a gender expert and adviser in research projects in Italy and Europe, including European Union–funded initiatives, and has contributed to gender-sensitive approaches in academic and professional contexts. She has published numerous books (both authored and edited volumes and journal issues), journal articles, and papers presented at national and international conferences, seminars and workshops in these fields.
Since 2023, she has been a member of the Doctoral Committee of the National PhD Programme in Gender Studies (DIN Programme in Gender Studies).

From September 2021 to August 2024, she served as Coordinator of RN33 “Women’s and Gender Studies” of the European Sociological Association (ESA).

From September 2019 to August 2021, she was Co-Coordinator of RN33 “Women’s and Gender Studies” (ESA).
She is the National Coordinator of the Scientific Framework Convention “Gender and Religion”, hosted by the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Milano-Bicocca. The Framework Convention brings together universities and research centres across Italy to study the relationship between gender, religion and social change.
From October 2018 to May 2024, she served as Director of the Interdepartmental Centre for Gender Studies (ABCD), University of Milano-Bicocca, involving 14 departments.

She is one of the founders of the AIS Research Committee “Studi di Genere” (Gender Studies), which she coordinated from 2012 to 2018. The Research Committee is part of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS).

Ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Sociologia e Ricerca Sociale presso l'Università degli Studi di Trento. Tra i suoi interessi scientifici rientrano: i processi di costruzione delle identità di genere; il genere come sistema sociale; le disuguaglianze di genere; i femminismi e l’agency delle donne; la violenza contro le donne e la violenza di genere; la sociologia delle generazioni, con particolare attenzione ai processi di avvicendamento, alle discontinuità generazionali e alle forme di dialogo tra generazioni; la diversificazione delle forme familiari; il rapporto tra genere, generazioni e religione; il rapporto tra genere e turismo; la sociologia del futuro. Sul piano metodologico, si occupa di ricerca longitudinale e ricerca gender-sensitive. Su queste e altre tematiche ha pubblicato numerosi volumi e saggi su riviste nazionali e internazionali.
