METIS - Future-Proofing Medical Education through Emerging Technologies for Enhanced Social Resilience

Emerging technology (AI, VR and simulations) is reshaping healthcare, from diagnostics and decision support to clinical workflows and public health infrastructure. Yet, university-level study programmes in the medical field often remain disconnected from these developments. As healthcare becomes increasingly data- Leggi tutto and tech-driven, there is an urgent need to equip future professionals with not just digital competence but also ethical awareness and social responsiveness. Medical study programmes must be modernized to integrate emerging tech-based literacy, societal relevance, and teaching innovation. This project answers that need, while also establishing the groundwork for launching a new interdisciplinary master’s programme that addresses these emerging priorities. To future-proof university study programmes in medical education by advancing literacy in three emerging technologies (AI, VR, and simulation-based learning) for enhanced social resilience (ethics, patient-orientedness). This will equip staff and students to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving, tech-driven healthcare sector, while offering a testbed for a future master’s programme to unwind.
